Budget - Worklogs
The Worklogs section in Chronova provides a centralized view of time logged by team members on various tasks, facilitating the tracking and management of project labor. While time logging, editing, and deleting are handled externally via Jira or Tempo Timesheets, Chronova aggregates this data to allow for comprehensive oversight of time spent on tasks and its financial implications.
To ensure full visibility of worklogs of a Chronova project, a project owner must have permission to access the issues of all project members. Without this permission, you will not be able to view or track their worklogs.
Access and Features
Viewers: Users with viewer permissions can view their own worklogs. They cannot approve, unapprove, or view worklogs of other team members. Viewers can filter their worklogs by Date Range to focus on specific periods of time.
Managers: Managers can access and review all worklogs for the entire project team. They have the authority to approve or unapprove worklogs, ensuring that time entries accurately reflect the time and costs associated with the project. Managers can also use filters to search by User and Date Range for better oversight.
Worklog Management
Worklogs are not created or modified directly in Chronova; instead, they are logged and handled externally via Jira or Tempo Timesheets, depending on the time tracking provider. Chronova serves as an interface for viewing these worklogs, providing insights into:
Who logged the time
The associated task or issue
Time spent
Approval status
This consolidated view helps managers monitor project labor costs and resource allocation. Managers can ensure that logged hours align with project objectives and budget, while viewers stay updated on their own logged time without needing to manually enter or approve time entries.
Worklog Approval Process for Managers
The approval process is essential for maintaining control over project costs. Managers in Chronova can review worklogs and ensure that all time entries reflect the true labor costs associated with the project. This process helps keep the project on track financially and ensures that resources are used effectively.
Approve: Managers can review individual worklogs and approve them. This ensures that the recorded time accurately reflects the actual work done and its corresponding cost.
Bulk Approvals: For larger projects with multiple worklogs, managers can approve multiple worklogs in one action. This feature streamlines the approval process and helps maintain project cost control without requiring excessive manual intervention.
By approving worklogs, managers are not just verifying time spent but also ensuring that project costs are accurately tracked and aligned with the budget.
